Solid beech is a living material. With proper care, your piece will retain its beauty and warmth for generations to come.
Wood carvings from WoodWondersWorkshop are finished with high-quality natural oils and waxes. This coating not only highlights the natural texture of the beech but also allows it to breathe. To keep your piece in perfect condition, follow these simple rules.
π§ΉDaily Cleaning
Wood, especially when it has deep relief, collects dust. The best way to clean it is to be gentle:
Use a dry, soft cloth (microfiber) for smooth surfaces.
For deep carving details, use a soft natural bristle brush (such as a large paintbrush or makeup brush). It will remove dust without scratching the finish.
Avoid: Any wet wipes, aggressive cleaning agents, furniture sprays with silicone, or abrasive sponges!
π‘οΈThe Ideal Environment
Like any solid wood, beech reacts to changes in humidity and temperature. To avoid cracking or warping of the panel/icon:
Install the piece away from direct heat sources (radiators, fireplaces, stoves).
Avoid direct cold airflow from air conditioners.
Do not expose the wood carving to direct, strong sunlight for long periods, as this can fade the natural color of the wood.
The optimal indoor humidity is between 40% and 60%.
π§Nourishing (Once a Year)
Over time (usually after 1β2 years), the wood may look slightly “dry” or lose its original satin luster. That is the time to nourish it.
Use high-quality clear wood oil (linseed oil, tung oil) or natural beeswax.
Apply a very thin layer with a soft cotton cloth. For the recesses, you can use a small brush.
Allow it to absorb for 15β20 minutes, then be sure to wipe off the excess with a dry cloth.
Master’s Tip: If you are unsure which oil to use, contact us via WhatsApp. We can recommend the exact brand or send you a small amount of the oil originally used to seal your piece!
